Feb 12 - Volly Day 9 - Night-time Shifts

Short early note today. 7 AM meeting to rally the troops. Tomorrow is Olympic Men's Downhill. It together with Gold Medal Hockey Game (if Canada makes it there) are considered by most to be the marquee events of the Olympics, so lots of pressure to get it off on time. Lots of snow last night, this is bad for downhill as track needs to be firm and no loose snow even outside the track in case racer goes out of track. So we were assigned shifts, I get to work from 1 PM to 10 PM today, so am trying to get some R+R now. Other crews work 10 PM to 7 AM, lots of snow to shovel. Then I am back on hill for 7 AM tomorrow. Hopefully we will all still be awake come race time, I think 11 or 11:45 local time. Go Canada Go !! Watch for Robbie Dixon, Eric Guay, Manny Osborne-Paradis, Jan Hudec. Will fill you in on how things went in tomorrow's blog. In meantime, here is pic of use of iPhone with carpenter's level app being used to ensure verticality of starting posts for race! (See previous blog on this).
